Standard Procedures to Operate Forklift

Point 1 : Check Forklift Before Driving

1-1  Check the forklift body, fuel, lubricating oil and cooling liquid.

1-2  Check the performance of engine starting, running and braking, check the lights, buzzer, warning devices.

1-3  Check if there is any oil or water leaking problem after running.

1-4  Check the actual pressure and temperature if they are in normal condition.

1-5  Fill in the Forklift Daily Check List to make record.

Point 2 : Start and Operate in The Right Way 

2-1  Ensure the forklift in a safety operation environment in advance, honking before starting engine.

2-2  Ensure the cargo is in stable condition before handling.

2-3  Press the accelerator pedal lightly and drive the forklift smoothly.

Point 3 : Cautions in Driving

3-1  The forks height should keep 300-400mm higher than the ground while driving, and the mast should tilt backward.

3-2  It's dangerous to rise the forks too high, please pay attention to the top to avoid bumping while driving. If lift cargo too high, it will also affect the stable driving performance of the forklift.

3-3  Lowing the forks to the right position after unloading before driving.

3-4  Honking while turning,backward and across the road, high speed turning is forbidden as it will cause rollover .

3-5  Forward traveling when climbing, reverse traveling when downgrade.

3-6  Keep a safety distance with the forklift in front, if not under special circumstances, the scram of brake is forbidden.

3-7  Drive the forklift in load condition while climbing or downgrade, if not under special circumstances, braking is forbidden.

3-8  Pay attention to the swing situation of the counterbalance while steering, especially for the new driver.

3-9  Turning and transversely driving on the rampway is forbidden.

3-10  Reverse traveling when loading a large cargo.

Point 4 : Safe Loading / Unloading

4-1  While picking the cargo, please insert the forks under the cargo totally and not tough the other cargos or pallets by the tine of forks. Stabilize the loading with minimum mast backward tilting, stabilize the unloading with minimum mast forward tilting.

4-2  The height of loading cargo should not block the line of operator's sight.

4-3  The operator should use the brake while load/unload the cargoes.

4-4  The driving speed should be low and smoothly when the forks are closed to the cargo or leaving the cargo. The wheels should not press to the other objects to avoid any harm to the people around.

4-5  Please load the cargo according to the standard load chart on the forklift, keep balance of the cargo and keep one side cling to the mast.

4-6  Handling the cargo with high driving speed and use forks to crash with other hard objects are forbidden.

4-7  Only one operator is allowed on the forklift while operating.

4-8  People are not allowed to stand on / around the forks while operating the forklift.

4-9  It is forbidden to use the forks to lift people for the aerial works.

4-10  It is forbidden to unloading the cargo with the inertia of braking.

Point 5 : Cauions after Work

5-1  Clean the forklift after the works.

5-2  Lowering the forks and keep the fork tines closed to the ground to avoid any harm to the people.

5-3  Hand brake after parking,etc.
